One night, Albertine 19 years old, jumps over the wall of the prison where she serves a sentence for hold-up. She broke a bone in her foot : the talus (astragale in french). She was rescued by Julien, an habitual offender. He hid her in the flat of a friend in Paris and during his scoundrel life in the Provinces, Albertine is learning how to walk again in the capital. Julien being arrested and imprisoned, alone and sought by the police, she prostitutes herself to survive. She fights for her fragile liberty and to endure the absence of Julien.
